Kilian Jornet is
a young Catalan skier and runner. When he was little, he lived with his parents
in the mountains alone, without neighbours. He went to school by bike when
there wasn’t snow and with skis when it was winter.
He practised
sport all the day with her sister because they hadn’t got Internet, Tv, balls or
toys. So, when he had free time, he went played with his family in the forests.
So, it was how since very little, he started to love the mountains, the animals
and the nature. When he grew up, he started competing and winning a lot of
races, like a runner, and like a skier.
Now, he is very famous because he has won a lot of competitions in these three last years. He has won: Ultra Trail Mont Blanc 2008, 2009, 2011, Grand Raid Reunion 2010, WS100 2011, and TNF Australia 100 2011, Record GR 20 (200km, 17000m - 32h54'), Record Tahoe Rim Trail (280km, 14000m - 38h32')…and 50 competitions more that these, so if I have to continue I will never stop.
Now he
is living in Cap de Rec, a mountain which is in the north of Catalonia . He is living alone, without neighbours
or family, he said that he is married with the nature. He stands up very early
and go running; he can run more than five hours ceaselessly. That’s amazing
because he hasn’t got Internet o Tv, he only has the equipment for go running
or for go to skiing.
He only
goes to the nearest town for buy food, and some clothes (he gets money with the
sponsors). He say that the city change the people, and I think that’s it’s
right, a lot of people say that he don’t want to live in the mountains alone,
but I think that it could be interesting disconnect of all the technology, and
all the people, not forever, but yes for a short time.
Finally I
think that is a new hero because he is different to the other people, for
example, most people when they get up in the morning is about sixty or seventy
beats per minute, he has only thirty, that’s amazing, he stand up incredibly
relaxed, who don’t want to stand up and have thirty beats for minute?
